Funerals

To lose someone you care about may be a very painful experience. It is often hard to think about the funeral and we are here to help you with this important farewell.

Everyone is different, so Life Ceremonies' approach is very personal: we will listen carefully to what you tell us about your loved one and how you may want to remember them.

The ceremony we prepare will reflect their unique life and character and their place in people's hearts.

You may wish us to include words offering spiritual or religious comfort - we will do whatever you feel is most helpful.

"Love lives on beyond Goodbye"

A Celebrant will visit you in order to prepare a tribute which reflects the person's life with integrity and will suggest relevant poems or readings.

We will also encourage and support family or friends who wish to make a personal tribute during the ceremony.

Music often expresses feelings more easily than words. You are welcome to choose any kind of music you feel is appropriate. You may also want us to display a photograph or item which has special meaning or memories.

After the ceremony, we will give you a script of the service so you can give a copy to anyone unable to attend the funeral and also keep it for future generations to read.

Laura Read, Director of Life Ceremonies, is a Member of the Institute of Civil Funerals:
A Civil Funeral is "A funeral that is driven by the wishes, beliefs and values of the deceased and their family, not by the beliefs or ideology of the person conducting the funeral."

"Thank you for helping us to give our mother such a beautiful and thoughtful final farewell."

"All the arrangements of the ceremony were professionally and sympathetically organised. I am extremely impressed."

"The kind things you said, and the smiles your words raised, made it a bit easier to bear.

We are very grateful to you for your compassion and kindness. God bless."

"Thank you very much for a charming and memorable afternoon. It was a lovely commemoration for my mother and was the perfect send off."

"You managed to instill a sense of calm and peace into a very upsetting day for my family and myself and I am eternally grateful to you for that."
